This Slashdot article tells us that MIT has developed an algorith to determine the ideal VP candidate for both major parties. Interestingly enough, it’s the same person- Colin Powell. The algorithm uses unique polling data about characteristics and other general categories, rather than asking respondants to select their preferred candidate from a list. The algorithm selected Colin Powell, former US Army general and Secretary of State for Bush’s first term.
As a former general and conservative, Powell would provide an interesting balance to Obama’s campaign. Few could accuse the campaign of being weak on national security. But would Powell be too middle-of-the-road for the liberals energized by Obama’s campaign?
