Edwards would “seriously consider” VP offer

John Edwards, when told by a reporter that he was on Obama’s “short-list” for VP, John Edwards said recently that he would “seriously consider” the offer.

Edwards could be an interesting choice for VP, helping Barack in NC, which could turn out to be a key swing state for Barack.  Edwards also has an exciting, populist message that could resonate with that demographic, which proved to be a strong force for Huckabee and Edwards in the primary.  Also, the Southern boy could help all over the south.

However, he wouldn’t help much with the jilted Hillary supporters, at least as much as an Evan Bayh or Ed Rendell.

Plus, this would set Edwards up for the presidential nomination in 2016 if Obama’s elected. But one of the problems with an Obama-Edwards ticket is it might come across as “too liberal” because of Edwards’s strong populist message combined with Obama’s leftist views (which seem to be shifting to the center now… )
