After trooper-gate, I thought it wouldn’t happen again. It did.
Between this and Obama’s half hour primetime infomercial, I think we may have nailed the last nail into John McCain’s coffin.
Not to jinx us, but I think we’re in dead girl, live boy territory. Unless al-Qaeda does something crazy.
Did McCain vet her at all?

I think it’s pretty evident that “welfare” is code for “black” in this campaign (just like it was in the deeply racist grand old tradition of Ronald Raegan).
Predictably, when McCain starts using implicitly racially charged words, McCain’s supporters are whipped up into an explicitly racist frenzy. There really are no words to describe this video. [...]

The Washington Post is reporting that No Child Left Behind is benefiting disadvantaged students.
From the article:
“As much as I’d say I wish we didn’t have to necessarily take these tests, I know it’s made us better,” said Angela Robinson, principal at Loudoun County’s Sugarland Elementary School, which reached achievement targets under the law this year after [...]

My gut instinct says yes. I’ve never seen this many of my peers wearing a candidate’s t-shirt, buttons, etc. Will that translate into votes? It did in the primary, and I think it will, although to a lesser extent, in the general.
Five Thirty Eight has some good analysis.

McCain is debate dodging.
Like the Senate can’t put together a bail out package without McCain being there to shepherd every last detail. C’mon, really, Johnny Boy? It’s not like McCain is on the Banking Committee.
I think McCain just doesn’t want to talk about issues, and the campaign is focusing more and more on economic issues [...]

So, something that I’ve been kicking around in my head lately is that the purpose of government is to solve collective action problems (e.g. prisoner’s dilemma, externalities, etc.)
Think about it: in a prisoner’s dilemma, the problems is that the prisoners have no method of accountability to ensure that they both collaborate rather than defect and [...]

I saw an interesting sign today. I thought it made a good point. It said:
“The Pilgrims didn’t have green cards”
Discuss.

I’ve noticed recently that this blog, and the Democratic Party in general has become disturbingly divided between Hillary and Barack. In some places, the level of discourse has been reduced to squabbling, and I see a trend of arguments getting more and more vicious. So, I’d like to take a moment to stop, breathe, and [...]

It seems that after doing a tour of duty in Iraq, and coming home just in time to unseat 28-year incumbent Republican douchebag Tom Gannon in the 2006 elections, our State Rep. Bryan Lentz has decided to hop on the Obama train. Lentz claims that an Obama candidacy would yield better coattails for leg. candidates [...]
